Google backs free AI filmmaking programme offering African creators training and production funding
- The 'From Script to Screen with AI' program was unveiled on October 26 by Akuna Learning, part of The Akuna Group.
- The initiative is backed by $1 million in funding from Google.org.
- Applications are open until November 15, 2026, through the akunalearning.com website.
This initiative represents a significant opportunity for African filmmakers to leverage AI in storytelling, fostering creativity and industry growth. However, the success of the program will depend on the accessibility of resources and support for participants throughout the production process.
